Isle of Man Post Office Celebrates Christmas and our Manx Wildlife with Local Artist, Rowan Corlett
Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is delighted to present our stamps for Christmas 2023. Featuring festive illustrations by local artist, Rowan Corlett, the stamps present a range of our local wildlife in wintery scenes across the Island’s landmarks, each animal has their Manx name on the bottom as a homage to our local language. Each stamp also includes various Christmas imagery – can you spot Father Christmas flying across the sky?
The stamps pay tribute to all that is Manx and festive and are a perfect way to celebrate Christmas and the joy of sending Christmas cards and presents to friends and family across the world. The collection will be featured on our self-adhesive stamps which are available from all of our counters and includes a self-adhesive sheet for local and UK letters which is the perfect solution for posting your Christmas cards.
This issue is particularly special as it is IOMPO’s first Christmas set with the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III displayed.
Artist Rowan Corlett said: “I was absolutely delighted to have been asked to illustrate 2023’s Christmas stamp issue. Creating a set of stamps for the Isle of Man was one of my ultimate goals as an illustrator, so I am over the moon to have achieved this! It was an absolute joy to illustrate some of the wonderful places on our little Island, and the beautiful creatures who we share it with. It is so important to celebrate and protect our natural world and I hope this set of stamps reminds people of the beauty around us, as well as giving a sense of cosiness that the festive season brings. I am very grateful to the Isle of Man Post Office for this opportunity.”
Maxine Cannon, General Manager Isle of Man Stamps & Coins said: “We are pleased to pay homage to our wonderful Manx fauna and our local landmarks with our stamp issue for Christmas 2023. Rowan has really captured the warmness of the festive period and we hope you enjoy sending your best wishes to loved ones across the world with these jolly Christmas stamps.”
