The Kegeesh Ommidjagh - Foolish Fortnight Mint Set brings together six Isle of Man stamps celebrating the colourful traditions, folklore and community spirit of the Manx festive season. Created in collaboration with Manx artist Felicity Wood as part of the 2026 Blein ny Gaelgey (Year of the Manx Language), the designs offer a playful glimpse into customs that once filled the Island during this special two-week period.
Kegeesh Ommidjagh traditionally began around Black Thomas’ Eve on 21st December and continued until Twelfth Night on 6th January. During this time, only essential work was carried out, allowing communities to enjoy gatherings, music, games and celebrations.
The issue explores distinctive traditions including Cammag, Hunt the Wren, the Kissing Bush, Laair Vane, Mollag bands and the Quaaltagh. It also celebrates the storytelling, language and community connections that helped make the festive period such a memorable part of Manx life.
Felicity Wood’s distinctive artwork brings these customs and characters together in a lively style, incorporating Manx words and details inspired by the Island’s heritage. The issue also recognises 90 years of Sight Matters and 150 years of Mothers’ Union.
This six-stamp set provides a colourful celebration of Manx Christmas traditions and the 2026 Year of the Manx Language.
