The Solar Eclipse 2026 Presentation Pack, from Isle of Man Post Office, brings together all four stamps in a specially presented collection exploring the spectacular partial solar eclipse seen from the Island on 12th August 2026.
Created in partnership with Manx astronomer Howard Parkin MBE BSc. BEd. FRAS, the issue explains how the Sun and Moon appear almost the same size from Earth, allowing total solar eclipses to occur. It also explores the differences between total, partial and annular eclipses and the roles of the umbra and penumbra.
From the Isle of Man, the eclipse reached 93.1% at 19:09, with mostly clear skies providing striking views shortly before sunset and moonset. Observers around Port Erin, Niarbyl, Peel and the west coast enjoyed memorable scenes as the Moon covered almost the entire solar disc.
The issue also explores the history of eclipses observed from the Island, including an account from Rushen Abbey dating to 1185, and looks ahead to the next total eclipse visible from the Isle of Man in 2151.
Limited to 1,000 packs, this Presentation Pack offers collectors an engaging insight into the science, history and enduring fascination of solar eclipses.
