Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is delighted to share this issue created alongside esteemed engraving artist Martin Mörck continuing our Chinese Lunar New Year series.  Each stamp has been meticulously crafted by Martin, sharing elements of the fire Horse’s rich zodiac symbolism: strength, independence, vitality and success. For thousands of years, the horse has galloped through the heart of Chinese art, poetry, and philosophy. Those born under its influence traditionally thought to be intelligent and ambitious. In Chinese history the horse is not only a powerful working companion, but also a symbol of mobility and status: it drew chariots, carried warriors, and conveyed its riders across vast terrains.The image of the horse has long held a sacred place in Chinese history. Ancient scrolls, Han dynasty tomb figurines, and Tang dynasty murals depict horses as both noble companions and celestial creatures. The mythic “heavenly horses” (tianma) were believed to be of divine origin, swift enough to run among the clouds and carry heroes to immortality. On 17th February 2026, around the world the Year of the Horse will be celebrated with lanterns, dances, and red banners displaying galloping horses as emblems of strength and good fortune. For many, it is also a time to reconnect with heritage, honour ancestors, and begin the year with renewed purpose and vitality. History of Manx Brewing celebrated in new collection of stamps by Isle of Man Post Office

Isle of Man Stamps and Coins is delighted to announce the release of a brand-new set of eight stamps titled Brewed on Mann, celebrating the proud brewing heritage of the Isle of Man. This special collection explores the fascinating history of beer-making on the Island, from its early records to the vibrant brewing culture enjoyed today.   The Isle of Man has a rich and distinctive brewing history shaped by tradition and a strong sense of identity. Brewing on the Isle of Man can be traced back to the early medieval period, when beer was originally brewed in households and monasteries using locally grown barley. By the 18th and 19th centuries, brewing had become more commercialised as the Island developed as a centre of trade and tourism.   Adulterated beer was a widespread problem in the 1800s so The Brewers Act (otherwise known as the Manx Pure Beer Act) - was introduced by Tynwald, initially in 1827 and updated in 1874. It mandates that beer be brewed using only water, malt, hops, and yeast. The Act remains a unique and enduring piece of legislation still enforced to this day.   The issue also shines a spotlight on significant anniversaries in Manx brewing: 175 years of Okell’s Brewery, founded in 1850 by Dr. William Okell, whose pioneering work in establishing brewing standards shaped the quality and reputation of beer across the Island.   Ollie Neale, Okell’s Brewery Managing Director commented:  “Celebrating 175 years is a significant milestone and this special stamp collection, created in conjunction with Isle of Man Post Office, is a fitting tribute to our heritage and the generations who’ve shaped our story and made Okell’s what it is today. Isle of Man Post Office unveil Crank Up Christmas Stamps Designed by UCM students and alumni

                        Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) and University College Isle of Man (UCM) are proud to unveil Crank Up Christmas, the 2025 Christmas stamp collection and wider IOMPO Christmas campaign. A heart-warming and festive series designed by students and alumni. This special issue is part of UCM’s milestone celebrations, marking over 145 years since the founding of the Douglas School of Art and 50 years of the Homefield Road Campus.  When approached by UCM to consider a set of stamps for their landmark anniversaries the team at Stamps & Coins viewed this as a wonderful opportunity to work with creatives of the future to bring together a set of six designs to reflect and embrace their wide range of talents and abilities. Our aim was to encourage this group of young people to think about their take on Christmas through engagement with each faculty at UCM. When presented with their storyboard in January 2025 it was clear they had given a tremendous amount of thought, including subtle messaging, within their draft designs.  The students were divided into teams and each given a brief; to portray Manx festive heritage and the evolution of Christmas traditions on the Isle of Man. The students conducted research and brainstormed ways through which they could include reference to each faculty at UCM as a means of representing all students in the project. The culmination of the project captures the spirit of Manx Christmas traditions through a vibrant mix of illustration styles, reflecting the creativity and talent nurtured at UCM. Each stamp tells a unique story - from Manx traditions such as The White Boys play and First Footing, to modern day occasions depicted through the Christmas light switch on and the annual Santa’s on a Bike fundraiser. This collaboration between UCM and IOMPO is a celebration of community, creativity and heritage. It provided students with a rare opportunity to contribute to a national philatelic release, gaining real-world experience and exposure for their work. The project also fulfilled the criteria for one of their modules. Izabela (Rue) Garczynska, who worked on the stamp featuring The White Boys play, said: “It was such a fantastic experience to work on the design of the stamps. To be able to deliver a real project that will be seen by thousands of people over the festive season, have my work approved by The King, and work closely with industry has been really valuable for my development and my portfolio. Thank you to Maxine and her team for giving us this opportunity.” Maxine Cannon, General Manager of Isle of Man Stamps & Coins, said: "It was my pleasure to meet with the students, lecturers and alumni at UCM in May 2025 to follow their journey on this project and to hear first-hand their hopes and aspirations for our Christmas collection. These stamps will be the most widely used of all designs issued in 2025, and it is for that reason we wanted creatives of the future to have the opportunity to share their thoughts and hopes with a global audience. During my visit I stopped to think about their positivity towards the postage stamp, its purpose and its place in the modern world. I explained to them that their class would be forever associated with the IOMPO 2025 Crank Up Christmas issue. Their designs will be housed in the Royal Philatelic Collection, The British Library and reference books detailing our new issues since 1973. It is a wonderful way to celebrate UCM’s legacy and the next generation of Island creatives." The project was coordinated as part of UCM’s year-long milestone programme, which has included exhibitions, alumni showcases and community events. The stamps were designed by ten Creative Media students, under the tutorage of Lecturers Ewan MacFarlane, Aimee Rode, Colin Cunliffe, Sonya Quayle and Gemma Sayle. Jesamine Kelly, UCM’s Principal, commented: “It’s been fantastic to see how the students have been thoroughly engaged in the project, giving them real-world experience, working with clients and developing fantastic teamwork and communication skills. This collaboration is a perfect example of how UCM connects education with the wider community. Isle of Man Stamps & Coins Celebrates Rick Wakeman with a Landmark Six-Stamp Collection Featuring the Visionary Artwork of Roger Dean

Two giants of progressive rock have come together in a landmark collection of six stamps celebrating the legendary keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman, brought to life through the visionary artwork of Roger Dean.                              From his spellbinding solos with YES to epic concept albums like The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Rick Wakeman has been pushing musical boundaries for over five decades. Now, fans can see his world re-imagined through the works of visionary artist Roger Dean, whose fantasy landscapes have become synonymous with progressive rock and are heavily featured throughout this new range of collectables.  Across more than 100 solo albums, Wakeman has explored everything from classical piano interpretations to full symphonic rock, building a catalogue as diverse as it is daring. His music has reached audiences worldwide, not only through records and concerts but also through his many appearances on television and radio, where his wit and storytelling make him as engaging off stage as on.  This unique collaboration brings together two cultural giants whose creative journeys have shaped the visual and sonic worlds of progressive music for more than five decades. Each of the six stamps features a carefully selected Dean illustration, capturing the otherworldly spirit and imagination that Wakeman’s music evokes.  Rick moved to the Isle of Man in 1987, writing, composing and performing from his converted coach house studio. He recorded prolifically there for more than a decade, including initial recordings of Return to the Centre of the Earth and the new age Aspirant Trilogy. His time on the Island also inspired a deeply personal work: The Heritage Suite. This solo piano album celebrates local landmarks — from St Michael’s Isle to Spanish Head — produced in association with Manx National Heritage.  Rick Wakeman CBE, FRCM, PROF (HON LCM), FGMS commented: “I am honoured to have my career featured on these stamps having spent many years as a resident of the Isle of Man. Battle of Britain and Manx Aviation Military Museum Anniversaries marked through new Stamp Collection

                                            Six stamps study the Manx Aviation and Military Museum during its 25th anniversary, issued alongside a commemorative sheetlet of stamps honouring the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.Founded in 2000 by a group of aviation and military history enthusiasts in the Isle of Man, the museum is run entirely by volunteers and has grown in size and reputation, becoming a very popular and highly regarded facility for the casual visitor or the serious researcher.The museum encompasses not only the history of Manx aviation but also the roles that the Island and its people played in both world wars. Particularly notable is the way the museum features the stories of individual people who, reluctantly or otherwise, went to war - giving a rare insight into how ordinary men and women felt and acted while doing their duty.For a quarter of a century the museum has preserved and shared the stories of the Isle of Man’s rich aviation and military past. From its location near Ronaldsway Airport, it offers visitors a journey through Manx history. The six stamps detail some of the museum’s main exhibits;  World War I, World War II,  VJ Day, Civil Aviation, museum artefacts and The Korean War.A commemorative sheetlet marking the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be released on 15th September. History of Manx Coins studied in landmark stamp issue

The Orrysdale Collection was meticulously compiled by Dr John Frissell Crellin MRCS MHK 1816-1886. The eldest son of John Christian Crellin, of Orrysdale and Catherine Quayle, of Castletown, and was educated at King William's College. He studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He inherited the property at Orrysdale and practiced medicine locally on the Island. Dr Crellin was appointed to the House of Keys in 1843. He became Dr Charles Clay's on-Island collaborator for his book on the Currency of the Isle of Man published as Manx Society volume 17 in 1869.  Along with Dr Clay they are regarded as the founding fathers of Manx numismatics.  Crellin had a significant collection of coins, tokens and card money, all shared throughout the Prestige Booklet – a 28 page study of the collection and history of Manx numismatics.  The Collection has been passed down through the family virtually intact. Before the Collection was dispersed the executors allowed all 1715 examples to be fully catalogued, providing the most detailed and extensive numismatics known on the Island.  Maxine Cannon, General Manager of Stamps and Coins at Isle of Man Post Office, said: "We are proud to present this unique six-stamp collection celebrating the rich numismatic history of the Isle of Man.
